Notre Dame stays clear of Oregon and Alabama to claim the number one spot in the final No Polls, No Computers, No Bias, PCW College Football Top 30.
Here’s the formula:
WIN: a team gains one point for each win an opponent they defeat has- I-AA teams count only for half.
WIN-21 POINTS AND MORE: a team gains a half extra point for each opponent’s victory (1-A teams only)
ROAD WIN: a team gains one extra point for a road win
LOSS: a team loses one point for each loss an opponent they lose to has- all teams.
LOSS-21 POINTS AND MORE: a team loses one half extra point for each opponent’s loss (All teams)
HEAD TO HEAD: If a team defeats an opponent and has the same or better record, they can’t be ranked below the losing team as long as the two teams are within 1.00 of each other in the ratings. Otherwise, the winning team gains 1.00 to their rating.
Notre Dame finished with 79 WIN points and an additional 13.5 points for road wins and victories of 21 points and more to top the chart.
Oregon from the PAC 12 edged out SEC Champion Alabama for the #2 spot thanks to a healthy 28 points for road wins/wins 21 points in their 12 games and just offset 70.5 WIN points for Alabama in 13 games.
Fellow SEC school Florida followed at #4 on the strength of 78 WIN points.
Unbeaten Big 10 team Ohio State came in at #5 ahead of SEC team’s LSU #6, Texas A&M #7, and South Carolina #8.
Big 12 champion Kansas State #9 and PAC 12 champion Stanford #10 round out the top ten. ACC champion Florida State rose to #13, MAC champion Northern Illinois #15, WAC champion Utah State #16, Mountain West champion Boise State #19, Sun Belt champion Arkansas State #21, Big East champion Louisville #27, and Big 10 champion Wisconsin finished #34
Teams that got pushes upwards thanks to the head to head rule: LSU #6, Florida State #13, Utah State #16, Louisville #27, and Toledo #28.
